India has participated in 28 Summer Olympics since 1900, and 20 times since gaining independence. Every time India sends athletes to the Olympics, we watch with bated breath and hope in our hearts of winning an Olympic medal. We see flashes of brilliance, moments of joy as each athlete scales up in qualifiers and inches forward towards a medal... but then reality hits, and the near misses are all we have to settle with.
Our country is the youngest in terms of population, with over 65 lakh people under the age of 44. We account for 18% of the world population and boast of the largest diaspora spread over 210 countries. Despite the humongous human resource, we have fared poorly in the Olympics with the lowest medal-to-population ratios. The topographical and demographical diversity, coupled with over 7500 Km of coastline, makes us one of the most potent countries to smash it in the Olympics. Yet we return home with under 10 medals. Our kids have fire in their bellies. They train under streetlights, they dream of gold medals, but dreams alone aren't enough.
This was a reason enough to take up yet another battle for the nation, ‘To improve our performance in the Olympics?
It was with firm belief that we deserve 100 medals in the Olympics, this Sec-8 company was started in Sep 2021. The verticals to achieve this are well thought out and curated, with a mission to impact every unaddressed aspect to bring about this paradigm change. Talent Identification, Sports Infrastructure at rural level, Sports Tech dovetailed in the process abinitio, Professional coaching, state-of-the-art equipment, and last but not the least - An opportunity to fight. Because talent without opportunity is just heartbreak waiting to happen.
That's why 100 Medals exists. That's why we won't stop until every Indian athlete has the support they need to shine on the world's biggest stage. India deserves those 100 Olympic medals. We deserve that shot.
100 Medals Targeted Foundation is a registered NGO (Under Sec-8 of Company’s Act). The NGO aims at identifying sporting talent amongst children from all cross sections of society. ‘SAU PADAK’(in short) will endeavour to make maximum sports accessible in villages and encourage underprivileged children to take up sports by facilitating them in as many ways as possible, so that the actual talent emerges in India. The Foundation will sponsor and mentor selected children with Continuous Evaluation Program to provide an equal opportunity and a platform to strive for podium finish in Olympics.
The Vision of the NGO is to get 100 Medals for India by Olympics 2028. We are a nation of over a billion people and nearly half of it is youth. We can’t get 100 medals in Olympics is unbelievable. It is in pursuit of India’s Olympic glory and to further develop a sporting culture in our nation that the NGO will be dedicated. The task is arduous and there remains a number of unanswered questions, but hope to get the replies as the journey gets underway. The voyage that we have started is for the entire nation. The NGO will endeavour to make it an inclusive travelogue where every one can contribute in the manner one desires. There is something for everyone.

Col Himmat Verma(retd) has served in the Indian Army for nearly three decades (including four years training at NDA and IMA). He has been a sports man and a sports enthusiast. He has distinguished himself in sports during his initial years and has been playing almost all games. He hung his uniform in Aug 21 to pursue his long cherished dream of contributing to Indian sports and the sporting culture as it exists in our nation. His mission is 100 Olympic medals by 2028.
Major Devender Pal Singh (D P Singh) is 48 yrs old Indian Army war veteran. Injured in active ops in 1999, he was brought dead to hospital. Survived with 100% disabilities and rose to claim many 1st to his name by converting his shortcoming into his strengths.
Col Ali Akhtar Jafri, Retd is a tri-sector leader having more than two decades of rich professional experience in Public Policy and advocacy.Immensely passionate about social causes, he has led operations of SaveLIFE Foundation and presently leads operations of MAIT, an Apex industry association of IT manufacturers of India. He renders probono advice to non-profits to achieve their mission.
